Education union paralyzes high schools in Algeria
A total of 87 percent of teachers Tuesday went on strike upon request from the Union of High School Teachers’ National Council while justice described it as illegitimate amid fears of a school year off.
Press attaché at the Council Messaoud Boudiba said teachers will not stop the strike as the Algerian education ministry did not inform them about the court’s decision.
“The education minister should have concretized written commitments he signed with education independent unions,” he told Echorouk.
The Union’s demands are related to professional promotion, a working session between the education unions and public service, retirement and freedom of practicing trade-union right.
