Egyptians call for the resignation of the Chairman of the Football Federation

Although the sanctions issued by the International Football Governing Body ( FIFA) against the Egyptian Football Federation in the wake of the attack over the bus of the Algerian national team in Cairo were insignificant, numerous Egyptian circles have regarded them as slander on the reputation of their country abroad.

• Several Egyptian parties have vehemently criticized the chairman of the federation, Samer Zaher and his Executive Board for being responsible for this situation and reproached them the way with which they dealt with crisis. Influential political and sportive figures asked them to resign and quit for good.
• In the respect, the former chairman of the Egyptian Football Federation Essam Abdelmounaim has called on Samer Zaher and his assistants to leave because they have failed, denouncing their jubilation after the Fifa’s announcement to the sanctions.
• Essam Abdelmouneim has indicated that Samer Zaher has failed to deal with crisis from the beginning arguing that he should have acknowledged the attack over the Algerian bus and instead of denying it and present formal apologies to the Algerian people.
• For his part , the other former Chairman Harb Eddehchouri has staunchly criticized Samer Zaher’s manipulation to the Egyptian general public. He reproached them their denial of the facts sparking thus huge controversy that led to a diplomatic crisis between the two brotherly states.
• The former international Ahmd Choubir has indicated that the Egyptian Federation’s way of dealing with the case was unprofessional saying that the condemnation of the Egyptian Federation was a blow to the whole country and its reputation.
• Samer Zaher sues Choubir 
• The Egyptian media have reported that Samer Zaher will meet with his assistants will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the latest developments concerning the so called Choubir case, who openly accused them of plotting the attack against the bus of the Algerian national team in Cairo.
• The Egyptian Federation has lodged a complaint against Ahmed Choubir and sent a correspondence to the Egyptian Information Minister in which he declared that Choubir’s act was a slander on the country’s good reputation.
