Emergency analyses and ISO Certification for drinks producers in Algeria

Emergency analyses and ISO Certification for drinks producers in Algeria

The Algerian Drinks Association will enforce an emergency plan to oblige all the dinks producing companies to undergo laboratory control to obtain a quality certificate.

President of the Algerian Association of Consumers Zaki Hariz said he is member of a commission in charge of keeping watch on drinks production.

This plan comes after the Algerian commerce ministry announced it had discovered streptococcus bacteria in mineral water sold in markets.

“The plan will touch all the drinks producing companies in order to protect people from any danger,” said Hariz.

“The Algerian Association of Consumers conducted laboratory analyses to a certain brands of marketed mineral water and it discovered some bacteria,” he added.

The same analyses showed that tap water is not safe to drink in many areas in Algeria including western provinces such as Oran.

He also said three Algerian companies only received ISO 2200 Certification For Food Safety. “That showed that most of the companies want to gain money only without taking in consideration quality.”

“The lack of control and consumption culture among people is behind this phenomenon. That caused the spread of 80 percent of rotten and fake products in black markets.
