Head of the Tunisian Ennahda Islamist movement, Rached Ghannouchi, has concluded his “friendly” three-day visit to Algiers on Monday, as he was received by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and then by Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.

Advisor of Head of Ennahda, Mougdad Isaad told Echorouk reporter that President Bouteflika praised the Ennahda political model, which managed making alliance with parties which do not share with it the same ideology.

Mr Bouteflika said he is confident that Enahda will be able to promote to the world a brighter image for Islamists as governors.

The two men discussed several issues of religious and lawful characters. In this regard President Boutelika said he rejects ordering to execute anybody convicted to death penalty.

They discussed also bilateral relations and ways to promote them. Mr Bouteflika suggested his guest to arrange a visit of Tunisia PM, once installed.

Mr Bouteflika inquired his guest on the new leaders in Libya, and Mr Ghannouchi reassured his interlocutor that he has strong relations with them, and predicted that stability and calm will be restored sooner, in the neighboring country.

After talks he held with President Bouteflika, APS news agency has quoted Mr Ghannouchi as saying that “bilateral relations between Algeria and Tunisia have always been strong, and they would get better in the future in the era of “the Jasmine Revolution” of Tunisia.”

“I believe that bilateral relations head towards a better future for the benefit of the whole Maghreb region,” Mr Ghannouchi predicted.

Ennahda won 89 out of 217 seats in the Tunisian Constituent Council, which is to be installed Tuesday.

Mr GhanouchI on Sunday met with head of the Islamist Movement for the Society of Peace (MSP) Aboudjerra Soltani.
