Entrance permits to rich-oil zones at the core of controversy in parliamentary session

The deputy Mohammed Adewaye called on the government to reconsider the measures imposed in the middle of the nineties on the visitors in the rich-oil areas located in the south eastern parts of Algeria for security reasons.

• The deputy’s request comes 13 years after the issue of n order by the interior ministry on May12, 1995 concerning the movement of peoples in these areas, which, according to him “proved its inefficiency” since several terrorist groups carried out attacks on these regions over these years especially in the areas of Ghardaia, Ouargla and Ilizi.
• In a declaration to “Echourouk” the deputy said that the decision to “isolate” the oil-rich zones from the rest of the country was disastrous to the inhabitants at the economic and social levels. He went on saying that the economic activities shrank drastically because northern businessmen are no longer operating in those regions due to bureaucratic difficulties to get entrance permits to the mentioned zones.
• Socially speaking, the deputy added that this decision was an impediment for various families living in these regions and many of them cut ties between each others owing to tremendous difficulties to get the permit.
