EU to send a commission to investigate on donations granted for developing Algerian poor areas

The European Union will send next week a commission of several officials and investigators to Algeria in order to investigate on the fate of the financial donations given for the Offices of Social Development in several localities following abuses in the management of those donations granted by the EU for the development of poor Algerian areas.

 

 The European Commission will prepare reports on investigations of transactions and property offices of social development programs for eastern Algeria in the branch of the social development agency in Annaba (east of Algeria) where checks in the movement of funds are performed to and from the bank accounts and accounts of association which deal with the office of the development programs in six towns.

 

Three cars were transferred to the directorate in Algiers and investigation will include financial transactions of a responsible in the administration of the agency. Investigations include transactions of the program during 10 years.

 These agencies were waiting for a financial stake from the EU which asked to extend the activity of the program for another year until investigating on the achievements that have been realized across six eastern towns, where another sum of 50 million Euros donated by the EU to develop villages and isolated regions in 2000.

 

Pending the arrival of the remaining financial quota, 19 centers for local initiatives for economic development have an unknown future, as no decree allowing the start of their work which have been prepared and equipped, and where over 300 university officials are mandated to follow up development projects and small enterprises across these towns.
