Experts Criticise U.S Operations In Libya
Security Services that are specialised in the fight against terrorism, including the armed forces, border guards, the National Gendarmerie and intelligence, tightened, since Monday control procedures fearing of the spread of ISIS terrorists along the Libyan border and the triangle that is bordering Tunisia and Libya near Ghadames and Tataouine, in conjunction with the U.S forces air strikes against ISIS strongholds in Sirte, in support of the Libyan forces, and pursuant to a request that was made by the national unity government that is led by Fayez Serradj, reliable sources told Echorouk.
“These measures come in anticipation of the possibility of the escape of ISIS elements towards the Algerian border or carrying out operations in the south of Algeria to confuse the security situation, especially since the experiments demonstrated that ISIS elements resort to neighbouring countries whenever the intensified and narrowed control their strongholds, after the U.S. operations in Sabratha, a lot of ISIS terrorists fled towards the Tunisian territory, and tried to establish an “Emirate” in Ben Guerdane, but the Tunisian security forces were vigilant in coordination with the Algerian side and foiled and aborted the terrorist plot that targeted Tunisia.
Libyan academic, Dr. Abdelaziz Oghnya, thinks that the control of ISIS in Sirte in an area of no more than 3 km, and the US strikes against it, aims primarily to circulate chaos in Libya, and is a message to the neighbouring countries, and anyone who wants to intervene to help the Libyans, that the great powers exist with the war arsenal to change the balance of power, because the support in Libya is received by forces on the account of others, and not by a national united army that enjoys the consensus of the Libyans.
“War in Sirte will be long if there will not be a political agreement in Tripoli. ISIS may also resort to suicide operations in Tripoli and the neighbouring countries to mix securities and confuse the region, especially that hundreds of its fighters left Sirte before the start of operations, and those who stayed there will fight to the end”.
For his part, the expert Ahmed Mizab told Echorouk; “Since the month of May, ISIS is creating subset ways and alternative scenarios of its elements, including the trend towards the Tunisian and Algerian border, and western regions in Libya, and Algeria took measures that would guarantee the security of the border according to the predicted worst-case scenarios, because the Libyan file witnessed daily developments.
“Sirte battle is not decisive and most of ISIS fighters left the city and ISIS retains only some elements in order to defend the “capital” of the organisation in Libya, while its elements are deployed in several regions of the country, including Misurata and Sabratha, and the borders, and infidels are waiting elements of the “Boko haram” to achieve further strategic expansion and occupation of the entire cities”.
