FAF President Raouraoua: “I’m Staying At My Post”
The President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Mohamed Raouraoua, has finally broken his silence and said he intends to stay at the helm of the Federation up to the end of his mandate.
Mr Raouraoua said that “as elected President of FAF, committed to my duties, I will continue to fully assume my responsibilities until the next elective general assembly.”
He also flatly denied comments attributed to him by some media, adding that he would remain respectful of the laws of his country and of the FAF Federation’s statutes and regulations.
“I declare officially today and on the official website of the Algerian Football Federation that I remain abiding by the laws of my country, the statutes and regulations of the Algerian Football Federation.
The file of the last AFCON-2017 will be examined by the Federal Bureau of the FAF at its next meeting and will be submitted to the next general assembly of the Federation”, he said.
“In the meantime and as an elected president respectful of his responsibilities and duties, I will continue to assume my responsibilities until the next elective general assembly”, Mr Raouraoua stated in a statement released on Wednesday on the FAF website, while denying making statements to the press just after the unfortunate elimination of the Desert Foxes of Algeria from the 2017 AFCON now hosted by Gabon.
“I never said that I had no account to give to anyone”, he underscored.
“Until then, the President of the Algerian Football Federation and all of its members have refrained from reacting to a hateful, incomprehensible, and disproportionate press campaign following the shutting out of the national football team from the AFCON-2017, one of these media outlets traded a statement and taken over by several other media falsely attributing it to the President of the FAF, touching off his ire.
“I can say today that I have made no statement to anyone and that I will make no statement to anyone except on the official website of the FAF or to the national news agency APS. Still less, I never strictly declared that I had no account to render to anyone. This is a fake story and a rude lie made up by the authors of this gross stupidity,” he hammered.
The participation of the Algerian football team in the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2017), from which it was eliminated in the first round, will be examined during the next meeting of the Federal Bureau of the Algerian Football Association (FAF), Mr Raouraoua further pointed out.
“The relevant report will be submitted to the next FAF General Assembly”, he added.
