Fake document networks on the look-out for potential immigrants

The various Algerian tribunals are currently witnessing manifold affairs linked to the forging of passports and residence permits.

• These shadowy networks profit by the untenable situation of many young people who are eager to quit the country by supplying them with fake passports and fake residence permits in return of large amounts of money.

• However, once the clandestine immigrant is intercepted by the authorities of the host country, he finds himself behind bars while the masterminds of these trafficking networks remain at large.

• A case in point is an Algerian peasant hailing from the eastern province of M’sila who disbursed 400.000 dinars to go to Belgium.

• But, he was later arrested at the port Algiers with in his possession a fake passport. He then had to face justice before the Sidi M’hamed tribunal.
