Families to take to the streets to save their jobs
Tonic's workers warn of taking to the streets.
Hundreds of paper collectors Saturday flocked to one of the facilities affiliated to the giant paper manufacturer “Tonic†in Algiers’ suburbs to express their anger following the decision taken by the liquidator to stop all activities with them, saying that this will lead 20000 families across the country to take to the streets.

Several business operators in the sector declared to “Echorouk” that more than 400 family businesses will face bankruptcy in addition to other social downfalls, accusing the liquidator of working for a deliberate the destruction of the group.

Young paper collectors’ spokesmen from 42 localities countrywide are set to rally by the Algerian league for Human Rights to sort out a platform to be forwarded to the prime, finance solidarity and religious affairs ministers in order to take the appropriate measures.

In a desperate outcry the young men addressed the president Abdelaziz Bouteflika saying that they refuse to sail on the death boats, referring to immigration, to become thieves in Western countries for it is more noble to collect paper and plastics in dumping grounds than becoming a thief or drug dealer in Europe.
