Farid Bedjaoui Is Not Wanted By Interpol

Farid Bedjaoui disappeared from the list of wanted by the Italian authorities and Interpol, after his name appeared on this list since 2013.

By carrying out a simple search on the website of Interpol, it is clear that the name of Farid Bedjaoui disappeared from the wanted list of the Italian judicial authorities, which has been the subject of an international arrest warrant since 2013, and whose name appeared on the wanted list of the Italian justice.

The search on the Interpol website shows that Italy has requested the names of 13 people and the name of Farid Bedjaoui is not included in this list, unlike the previous list on Interpol wanted.

Even when conducting an advanced search and referring to the nationality of the Algerian wanted person, there is no trace of Farid Bedjaoui on the wanted list of Interpol, as was the case previously, as his name appears as soon as a search is made of the wanted Algerian nationals regardless of the country that requested it.

The international arrest warrant for Farid Bedjaoui was issued in 2013 against the backdrop of the Sonatrach-Eni-Saipam scandal, or the so-called 200 million euro bribe, in which Farid Bedjaoui acted as the supposed mediator of the negotiations and paid the bribe through his Hong Kong company Pearl Partners.

The trial is still under way in the Milan court, where the next hearing is scheduled for September 19 and will be devoted to the defendants’ defense of the case and the prosecutor’s response as well.

The same court last month appealed for an eight-year prison term against Farid Bedjaoui, while it sentenced six-year prison against the former CEO of Eni, Paolo Scaroni, who is currently the chief executive of AC Milan Football Club.

It is not yet clear whether the Italian authorities have overturned the international arrest warrant against Farid Bedjaoui or that his name is blocked only from publicly available searches and is in fact still required by the Italian authorities.
