Figures: 300 Thousand Algerians are drug addicts
The Head of the National Office for the Fight against Drug Abdelmalek Sayeh has yesterday revealed that 300 thousand young Algerians aged between 20 and 30 are drug addicts, noting that investigations are underway to prove the existing correlation between the rising number of accident and drug consumption.

Talking in a press conference on the sideline of the International Drugs Day held here in Algiers, the expert has indicated that that 42 thousand drug addicts have been treated, pending the upcoming creation of 20 additional rehab centers countrywide.

M Sayeh has further added that the specialized centers used to host between 4000 and 7000 drug addicts annually, but the number has increased to reach 11000 to 12000 which means that the phenomenon spread in the Algeria society.

According to the presentation of M Sayeh, the categories of people that consume drug are those who can afford it financially, noting that the great south takes the lead though less populated.
