FIS Leaders call upon Islamic Parties to control the parliament

Algiers(January 3, 2012)- Former leaders in the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS), Hachemi Sahnouni and Abdelfattah Zearawi invite all the Islamic political parties and associations to get access to power and achieve political gains.

Hachemi Sahnouni told Echorouk that this initiative does not mean that the former FIS leaders aim to reach power positions in the coalition, but want to realize cooperation and solidarity between the brothers who belong to the Islamic movement, in order to achieve positive results in the coming elections.

The spokesman added that he wishes this call would be a real start for a future Islamic alliance in Algeria.

Both leaders assert, in a statement available to Echorouk, that they call upon all Islamic Parties for change, renaissance, reform, justice and development and other associations, in order to declare a strong Islamic alliance that could realize unity and cooperation for reaching powerful positions in the state.

FIS leaders explained the main plan of this coalition, pointing to the emergence of each party within the coalition each with its points of power, asserting that they share the same roles, function and gains that is why they should prevail and participate and governance, power and influence.

The same spokesmen warn of the consequences of conceit , and consider that if the Islamic parties will work as one group they will get only what the regime would give them.

The call by former FIS leaders comes in the wake of similar invitations by some leaders of Islamic parties and movements, like the head of Movement for Society and Peace (MSP) Abou Jarra Soltani who called upon Islamic Parties to realize a powerful coalition to face the forthcoming elections, similar to the secretary of the Front for National Change Abdelmajid Menasra, the General Secretary of Renaissance Movement (Nahda) Fateh Rabi, and the head of the Party for Justice and Development Sheikh Abdellah Jaballah.
