The national police stepped up security measures on the headoffice of Algeria’s FLN party in Hydra in Algiers to avoid any clashes among the partisans of the former speaker of the People’s National assembly Amar Saidani and the party’s political office coordinator Abderrahmane Belayat.

Security forces blocked all ways to the headoffice as rumors were circulated about the intention of members of Parliament to enter the office and oblige Belayat to withdraw.

Saidani denied the rumor and told Echorouk he is not behind it.

Members in the political office were called on to hold a meeting with the central commission executives of the party to examine new facts and Belayat’s positions.

The meeting was attended by ministers Amar Tou, Rachid Haraoubia, Abdeaziz Ziari and Tayeb louh as well as members in the political office. They warned Belayat of dismissing him in accordance to Article 158 which stipulates that political office members have the prerogative to dismiss their coordinator. They banned all the decisions announced by Belayat and held him responsible for the FLN’s internal crisis. They believe that the only solution is to hold a meeting between the parliamentary bloc to make an appropriate decision.

The angry members reminded Belayat to not use the party’s money only upon request from the political office.
