Football / Rabah Saâdane : “Certain malevolent quarters wish a Fennecs' defeat versus Egypt to wear me out”.
The Algerian national team coach Rabah Saâdane has said that certain misguided and ill-willed quarters vividly wish a Fennecs' setback versus Egypt on June 7 in Blida to “take the wind out of his sails”, as he put it.
-
Against all odds, Saâdane asserted that he was fully conscious of the responsibility weighing on his shoulders, stressing that he would do his utmost to lead the Greens to victory over the Egypt squad as part of the combined qualifiers for the 2010 African/ World cup competitions.
-
” Saâdane shed warm tears in front of journalists at a press conference “.
-
During a press conference held yesterday at the Hilton hotel of Algiers, the national coach affirmed that he was not at all afraid of the Egypt squad but was rather wary of the hostile reactions from certain zealous fans in case of a Greens’ setback versus Egypt.
-
In a moment of an intense emotion, Saâdane shed warm tears, saying that he dreaded possible reprisals against his family members in case of a defeat against Egypt.
-
He said that his son, who is preparing to sit for the baccalaureate exam next June, is fearful of the adverse reactions from the public.
-
Saâdane stressed that he did not want to see his son or any other member of his family endure the bitter expostulations and insults, he himself experienced during the botched 1986 world cup finals.
-
” I live in a popular district and I am not safe from a possible vendetta “.
-
Saâdane revealed that he had asked the FAF Federation to provide him with a more secure accommodation at the onset of his nomination at the helm of the Algeria squad but nothing has been done so far to this effect, he said.
-
” I am conscious that a setback versus Egypt will trigger my departure “.
-
Saâdane said that even in case of a mishap versus Egypt, he would coach again the Greens during the next qualifier against Zambia because it would be too late to nominate a new national coach.
-
” The Egypt squad is strong but we know how to subdue them in the upcoming qualifier”
-
Rabah Saâdane indicated that the Egypt team was strong but the Algerian players had the means to face up to the challenge and to come out victorious during the forthcoming World cup qualifier on June 7 in Blida stadium.
-
He pointed out that the Greens were determined to pull out all the stops versus the Egyptians and to carry the day with flying colours.
-
“The national players will train in France away from pressure”, says Saâdane
-
The Fennecs’ training camp in southern France will start on May 25th and will be wrapped up on June 5th, just 2 days ahead of the decisive and most thrilling confrontation against the Egyptian squad in Blida.
