Foreign Ministry Responds to Rebels Chief: Quit Lies,Childish Anger Against Algeria

Algeria Foreign Ministry has responded the military chief of Libyan rebels, General Abdul Fatah Younes, who accused Algeria of backing up the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Amar Belani told Echorouk reporter that Algeria still rejects any foreign intervention in the internal affairs of countries, and favours, instead, political solutions which respect the will of the Libyan people.

Mr Belani addressed General Abdul Fatah saying: “You are acting like an angry child against Algeria through uttering lies. And for the last time, I’d tell you simply that Algeria has evident and firm positions, including the one rejecting foreign intervention, and works for reaching a political solution to the Libyan crisis, as part of UN and UA efforts.”

Mr Belani has further added that “At the very beginning of the crisis in Libya, Algeria has been a strong party in the efforts aiming at restoring peace, notably through the drawing up of the AU peace roadmap which is likely to conclude by offering a political solution and responding to aspirations of the Libyan people, by preserving their unity and that of their lands.”
