Foreign Ministry Resumes The Evacuation Of Stranded Algerians Abroad
Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a second operation to evacuate Algerian nationals living abroad, and this is according to data published by several Algerian embassies, the Algerian community representative in Africa and the Middle East, Amira Salim, said.
“Priority according to the government will be for serious illness cases, students, the dead, and holders of tourist visas”, she added
“The second evacuation, which I was informed of, came after several Algerian embassies abroad published data indicating the start of the second evacuation without specifying the date of the operation”, Amira Salim explained, while official correspondence checked out by Echorouk indicates that Algerians who are concerned this time with the evacuation process are those suffering serious diseases outside the homeland, in addition to all of the Algerians whose work contracts abroad have expired, university students and those with tourist visas, and the dead bodies that still arrive at this day in Algeria despite the continued closure of the airspace due to the Coronavirus.
Echorouk sources said the government started the operation, which is the second evacuation after the large evacuation process that took place three months ago, which allowed the return of more than 28,333 Algerians from abroad at a financial cost of more than $ 23 million, according to the statements of the Interior Minister, Kamal Beldjoud, who revealed that Algeria is programming more than 95 flights and 4 sea journeys, and other arrivals through the border crossings to ensure the return of Algerian nationals abroad to the homeland, after the high demands of Algerians wishing to return to Algeria, especially since their financial conditions are difficult and they cannot stay for a long time outside the country.
Previously, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, gave instructions to the government to mobilize the air and sea fleet, and the hotels to receive the stranded people, which has already been done, but that the process was suspended for a period of time, which prompted many citizens to appeal to the President to intervene to open the borders for their return.
