Elements of the National Popular Army Saturday night eliminated 7 terrorists in the region of Blida (40 Kms of Algiers) and recovered a pistol and a “Kalashnikov” machine gun.

  • Corroborating sources revealed to “Echorouk” that army troops set up an ambush to  the  terrorist group in the region of “Tohan” ,located between Blida and Medea,  who was due to re-ignite terrorist activities in the region of “Mitidja”.
  • The operation resulted in the elimination of 7 terrorists and three casualties among the soldiers. The corpses were transferred to the nearest hospital’s morgue.
  • On the other hand, other sources revealed that the National Popular Army has started a large- scale combing operation in the  area backed by heavy artillery and air strikes on terrorists’ caches. It is most likely another strategy followed by the terrorists to transfer their organization’s commands to the former Islamic Armed Group “GIA” strongholds established in these areas.
  • This operation comes after the elimination of a terrorist in the same region last week followed by an investigation carried out by the national gendarmerie crowned by the dismantling of a back up network comprising 12 elements from different compounds of Blida.
  • The arrested individuals were sent by “Doudkell” to the region of “Mitidja” in a move to start afresh terrorist activities there and widen their operations’ zone.
  • Security sources also revealed that the criminals were on the brink to create a brand new terrorist cell to replace the destroyed “Sadik” squad and the “Feth” one after the elimination of 6 terrorists and their Leader “Omar Ben Titraoui”.
