Former communication minister: New media law is a masquerade
The former communication minister Abdelaziz Rehabi has indicated that the new media law didn’t tackle one of the most sensitive issues that stay as an impediment to the media professional which is that one pertaining to the source of information.

He has further noted that the new law has neglected several top important points including the duty of the Public Service Media toward the society.

Rehabi has noted that the cabinet has failed short in preparing an appropriate document and it’s now more than necessary for the judicial branch to catch up this setback through the revision of some provisions that guarantee the rights for the journalists to get access to information.

The journalists suffer a lot to in this domain because of the pressures applied by the authorities on them, although communications cells have been set up at the ministries whose duty is to provide them with information, he added.

The former ambassador to Spain considers that the new media law didn’t bring anything new and didn’t live up to the professionals’ expectations.
