Former municipality managers heard by magistrate

The examining magistrate of the court of Boufarik, 40 Kms west of Algiers, has brought into a hearing session 59 individuals involved in cases of corruption and misappropriation including former top officials at the municipality of Staoueli and Zeralda.

• An investigation was opened by the national gendarmerie services in 2005 following intelligence over gross misconducts registered in the municipality budget, judicial sources revealed.

•  

• Six years after, the investigators have forwarded a complete file to the examining magistrate of the court of Boufarik.

•  

• 40 among them were charged with over consumption of fuel causing loses worth 25 thousand Euros to the municipality’s treasury.
