Former officer leads international network of smuggling stolen cars from Europe to Algeria

Investigations conducted by the Interpol about an international cars smuggling network operating in Europe, Algeria and Moroccan borders.

  • Investigators are still searching for the mastermind who is an officer. He brought luxury cars from Europe and sold them using fake documents.

  • According to Echorouk’s sources, the discovery of the international network came following security coordination between the Interpol’s branches including its office in Algeria.

  • Security investigations led to seize a land rover in the province of Oran (west of Algiers) in March. Its owner said he bought it from a former officer.

  • The Interpol’s investigations showed that the car was stolen from a woman in Belgium and it was brought to Morocco then Algeria through land borders.

  • Security forces in western Algeria expanded its investigations and seized two other cars in March.

  • A victim of the network told Echorouk he trusted the officer who sold him a land rover at 400 million centimes. He gave him fake documents.
