France Counts 30.000 Algerian Students
Algerians accounted for 12% of the total number of beneficiaries of the residence certificates that were distributed in 2017, and the Institute of Planning and Urbanization in the French region of “Ile de France”, showed that out of a total of 96,000 residence certificates that were granted in 2017 in the area of ” Ile de France”, 11,613 residence certificates were granted to Algerians followed by Moroccans (8.012), the Chinese (7.290), the Tunisians (6.604) and the Malians (3.383).
The five countries that are involved represent 40% of the beneficiaries of legitimate residence in France, while the Maghreb community accounts for 28% of the beneficiaries.
The study shows that more than half of the residence certificates that were granted in the “Ile de France” region belong to African nationals (54%), most of them are French-speaking, with the addition that Africans account for 68% of the family migration, from the Maghreb and French-speaking countries.
Family migration represents only 35% of the total residence certificates that are granted in the capital, Paris, while six out of ten certificates are granted in Saine-Saine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne representing more than half the number in Isson and Val d’Oise.
Africans consider the importance of family gathering, this is why they are the most numerous in terms of holding residence certificates in the area of Isson (seven out of ten), La Seine-et-Marne (two thirds).
According to the same study, the majority of students are from Africa (44%), Asia (36%), and Chinese students are the most numerous (14%).
French capital, Paris, leads the list in terms of students’ reception (where they live more than four to ten) and for professional reasons (more than a third).
The number of Algerian students is the highest in France with 30,521 students compared to 26.116 students in 2017.
In the ranking of the top 25 countries in terms of granting visas, Algeria ranked third after Morocco and China (+ 10%), reflecting the increase in the number of students from 2011 to 2016.
