France: “Officers And Soldiers Challenge Macron’s Government With New Message”

“In order for our country to survive” … Thus, the military and officers in France wrote a new article calling for saving France from what they call terrorism and extremism, and they opened the article to a campaign of signatures in which the registrants exceeded more than a million people within a few hours.

Despite a previous article that triggered off widespread controversy in France, and some of its signatories are facing sanctions, the French military continued to write their articles calling for extricating their country from the threat of terrorism and extremism according to them, without signing their names, but they turned the article itself into a campaign to collect signatures rejecting violence in the country on the magazine’s website Valeurs Actuelles.

And as reported by “France Press”, the article was directed to President Emmanuel Macron, the ministers, deputies and senior officials, calling on them: “Take action. This time it is not related to sentiments subject to demand, or vulgar formulas, or media echoes .. It is not required to extend your mandates or win. Other states, but what is at stake is the survival of our country, yours.

On Monday, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanian commented on the article, denouncing what he called “a brutal maneuver”.

The French interior minister also criticized the drafters’ lack of “courage”.
“They are faceless,” he said sarcastically. “Is this courage?” Do they not reveal their identities? ”

The authors of the article define themselves, saying: “We are the ones whom the newspapers called“ the generation of fire, ”adding that they are military men and women in service, and that they are from all forces and all military ranks, as well as from all directions.

“We are among those the newspapers have called the fire generation. Men and women, active soldiers, of all armies and of all ranks, of all sensibilities, we love our country. These are our only claims to fame. And if we cannot, by law, express ourselves with our face uncovered, it is just as impossible for us to be silent, ”they write to introduce themselves.

“Afghanistan, Mali, Central African Republic or elsewhere, a number of us have experienced enemy fire. Some have left comrades there. They offered their skins to destroy the Islamism you are making concessions to on our soil, ”say the authors of the message.

“Most of us have been through Operation Sentinel. We saw with our own eyes the abandoned suburbs, the accommodation with delinquency. We have endured the attempts to instrumentalize several religious communities, for whom France means nothing. Nothing but sarcasm, contempt and even hatred”.

Some French media had published on April 21 a shocking column in which “about twenty generals, a hundred high-ranking officers and more than a thousand other soldiers”, called on President Emmanuel Macron to defend patriotism, and said to themselves ” willing to support policies which will take into consideration the safeguard of the nation ”.

This text sparked off a lively controversy in the political class, some denouncing a quasi-call for an insurrection while others greeted a salutary start.

Prime Minister Jean Castex denounced an initiative “contrary to all our republican principles” and accused the RN, which had called on the signatories to support its action, of “political recovery”.

The Minister of the Armed Forces called for sanctions to be taken against the signatories, whether active or retired.
