Frank Ribery
The football star of the French national team and the German squad of Bayern Munich, Frank Ribery, relates in a recently – published book compiled by Claude Moro, the reasons behind his conversion to the religion of Islam and the good recollections he keeps of his one-week stay in Algeria in the summer of 2006.
-
Ribery says that he can’t forget the warm and fraternal welcome extended to him by the Algerians throughout his stay in western Algeria.
-
He felt as if he were at home and among his own family, he said.
-
Ribery also said that he was still very grateful for the welcoming ceremony organized in his honour in the city of Oran in the presence of several Algerian sporting personalities and the local authorities.
-
He added that his trip to Algeria was translated into reality thanks to his wife Wahiba Benmahi who is a French citizen of Algerian origin.
-
His wife, he said, wanted eagerly to make him know and appreciate the country of her parents and ancestors.
-
Ribery said that he had deeply enjoyed his one-week stay in western Algeria, notably in the cities of Tlemcen, Nedroma and Oran.
-
Furthermore, Frank Ribery emphasized that his love marriage with an Algerian woman with whom he has 2 children, had greatly helped him in his willful and thoughtful conversion to the religion of Islam.
-
He asserted, to this effect, that his conversion to Islam was a boost for him at all levels notably in his football career either with the France line-up or with his German squad of Bayern Munich.
-
He explained that his conversion to Islam had allowed him to gain a greater confidence and a better self-control in addition to a serene frame of mind during the football fixtures with the French national team or with the Bayern squad.
-
“My religious practice concerning the daily ritual prayer or the fast of Ramadhan goes on without any hindrance at the level of Bayern Munich”, Frank Ribery asserted.
