Fraud repression agents unveil merchants greed in Ramadan

A number of traders used banned substances in frozen meat, spices and food as fraud repression departments have noted 13,000 breaches for the last 20 days related to non conformity to healthy rules.

According to official documents, some sellers turned frozen meat into fresh meat while others added food coloring to chorba and lemon juice. The repression departments ordered to close 821 shops as their owners did not respect healthy rules.

According to the National Association for the Protection of Consumers, fraud phenomenon increased during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Chief of commercial activities in El Harrach market told Echorouk traders mix spices with cement powder during Ramadan.

Figures given by the Algerian commerce departments show that 821 shops were closed due to 13,000 breaches noted through 59,000 check points in markets and shops.
