Freha Population Mark Silent March, Require Displacing the Military Barrack

As many as 2000 people have participated in a silent march in Freha locality, in Tizi Ouzou province, to protest the blunder killing of a 50 year woman (I.Zahia) by a soldier, and to demand the authorities to displace the military barrack in Freha, to another place.

The silent march started in the morning of Thursday from the spot where the victim was shot, traversed the main streets of Freha, and finally reached the Town Hall.

The marchers, who bore black armbands, marked a silent minute on remembrance of the late I.Zahia, in the city public square.

The marchers lifted a black banner to require authorities dislocating the military barrack to another place, noting that some MPs of the opponent RCD party, as well as some local elected of the FLN, the major party in the Parliament, attended the march.

The spokesman for the victim’s family members thanked the population of Freha for standing with them in these hard moments, and reiterated urging authorities to punish the defendant soldier.

Several foreign media have covered the march, including the BBC radio and Al Arabiya TV station.
