The French Embassy in Algeria denied, on Wednesday, that President Emmanuel Macron announced Algeria’s consent to participate militarily in combating terrorism in the Sahel, during the N’Djamena summit.

According to a statement by the Embassy, what was circulated on the communication networks, from information attributed to the French President, is false.

It explained that Macron did not confirm during the summit of the Sahel Group in Chad, Algeria’s consent to p take part in this force charged with combating terrorism.

The Embassy added that the French President had only confirmed his welcome of Algeria’s commitment to mediating the Mali crisis during the recently-held Kidal meeting.
