French Foreign Ministry Provokes Algerians: “Harkis Were Persecuted”

French Foreign Ministry explained that Algeria has complete authority to grant or deny the movement of harkis in its territories, and that Paris can not compel Algeria on it, and on the other hand it expressed hope to see the desire of the French nationals who were born in Algeria realized so that they can visit their home towns, claiming the provocation of Algerians on the eve of the Independence Day, saying that “Harkis were persecuted in Algeria.”

A response by the French Foreign Minister about the writing questioning at the Senate, that is dated on June 16, 2016, about not granting freedom of movement for harkis and their families between France and Algeria, said that France is well aware of the state of despair and frustration that is experienced by the citizens who were forced to leave the land where they were born”.

“President spoke, during his speech on March 19, 2016, about the suffering of those who have been persecuted in Algeria, and who were abandoned by the country, and then they were received in France in miserable conditions, before France recognized their sacrifices.”

Response of the First official in the Kédorsé that the entry and movement of persons on the national territory is only the prerogative of the concerned country, which can decide with all the integrity about allowing or refusing the entry of any foreign person to its territory, and explained that there was no specific law that can be used by the French nationals in order to allow their entry to a foreign country.

According to the same document, the quality of bilateral relationships between Algeria and France since 2012, and the dialogue of trust between them, allows for the full discussion of bilateral issues with the Algerian authorities, including those that are relating to the problems of the movement of the French and Algerian nationals between the two countries, and said that the French authorities hoped to see the French nationals who are wishing to see the lands where they were born, realized over time.

Previously, Senator Jean-Claude Carl sent a written accountability to the French Foreign Minister on April,14, 2016, in which he asked him about Algeria’s refusal about the entry of a number of Harkis and members of their families, and enabling them to visit their ancestors’ lands.
