French Parliament demands free movement of “harkis” and their families between Algeria and France!
The French Parliament has demanded that the “harkis” and their families to move between Algeria and France freely just a few days after the presentation of a bill glorifying the treacherous “harkis” by giving them extra financial and moral compensation for having fought their brothers in the ranks of the French occupiers during the national liberation war.
This request came from Philippe Vitale, MP from the Republicans for the department of the Loire, who asked the Foreign Minister if the fate of the “harkis” was discussed during the recent visit of French Premier Manuel Valls to Algeria.
This request came after the final declaration reflecting the visit of French Prime Minister from 9 to 11 April in Algiers which addressed the fate of the so-called “Blackfeet”.
To recap, a proposed law on the recognition of the responsibility of France in the abandonment and killing of “harkis”, signed by 84 French MPs from various political backgrounds, was referred to the Commission of Defense and Armed Forces on 5 April, 2016.
This proposal stipulates in its articles that the French nation recognizes the responsibility of the French state in the abandonment and killing of “harkis” and their families and will repair the moral and material damage suffered by the “Harkis” who had been forsaken and supposedly massacred in Algeria with their families or relegated to makeshift camps in various parts of France.
In addition, financial charges that could result from the implementation of this law for social security agencies are duly compensated by the creation of an additional tax to the rights mentioned in sections 575, 575A and 403 of the General Tax Code.
