Gendarmerie Detectives Seize Up 22 Quintals of Drug in Ouargla and Ain Tmouchent

National Gendarmerie managed seizing a load of 22 quintals of narcotics carried in two vehicles, in Ouargla and Ain Tmouchent provinces.

 

The commandment of the National Gendarmerie said this operation date back to Tuesday night, as detectives at the National Gendarmerie unit of El Amria, in the western province of Ain Tmouchent, collected accurate information about the existence of an attempt to smuggling a big quantity of drugs, and then launched a wide search operation in the area. 

Detectives suspected a Tlemcen originated Mercedes car parked near El Amria. The car was endured search, and 5.65 quintals of treated cannabis were discovered inside the trunk, and under the front and back seats. The car was recouped, and the two men who were on board disappeared in the nature. 

In the same day, the National Gendarmerie unit at El Barma municipality, in Ouargla province, south Algeria found a Toyota Station 4×4 vehicle, inside of which 8.45 quintals of treated cannabis were discovered.

The traffickers managed to flee on board of a same model vehicle. The detectives opened an investigation to track down the wanted car and traffickers, and managed later on to discover 8 quintals of cannabis hidden under sand, in Ouargla.
