National Gendarmerie services on the eastern border of Algeria have thwarted an attempt of smuggling 31 quintals of narcotic to Tunisia and Libya, hidden inside packs disguised as livestock food.

The detectives have been informed that a load of narcotic cargo was carried from Saida province, western the country, by drug dealers, and who were to go through the itinerary of Naama-Bayedh-Oued Souf and then heading towards the eastern border to smuggle the cargo to Libya and Tunisia, where it should be carried to Europe.

After accurate work, gendarmerie services detected the target car in Naama province, west of the country, and then managed to arrest the driver who tried to flee. The detectives searched the car and discovered 31.2 quintals of treated cannabis hidden inside 120 packs, and estimated at about 302 million DZD.
