German FM pays a two-day visit to Algeria

Algiers- German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle makes a tow day visit to Algeria at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci.

 

The German official is accompanied by a business mission in order to tighten Algerian-German ties, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The German FM and his Algerian counterpart are holding talks. Meetings between the German delegation and Algerian officials will be held as well.

 

The visit is also an opportunity to review the bilateral ties and examine ways and methods to give it more progress which reflects the capacities of both Algeria and Germany in the field of business.

 

It should be noted that the total volume of trade exchanges between the two countries reached approximately three billion dollars in 2011.

 

Algeria’s imports from Germany reached $5.2 b IN 2011, while its exports reached $498.5 m during the same year, with a total rise of 30% compared to 2010.

 

The same source added that this visit will also be an opportunity to discuss issues of common interest, including regional and international issues such as terrorism and security.
