Ghardaia Notables: “The state knows those who fuel the seeds of discord in Ghardaia”

Notables from Ghardaia province in southern Algeria have asserted that the recent bloody incidents which wracked the region will need time to be overcome notably through the fostering of a sustained dialogue between the various protagonists in a bid to defuse the lingering inter-communal tensions for good.

They also pointed to the urgent necessity for the authorities concerned to intervene with no prevarication and forcefully by striking with an iron hand those behind the current unrest and discord involving the Malekite and Ibadite communities in Ghardaia province.

 Several wise men and notables of the region told Echorouk that the adverse and damaging cycle of violence should be halted for the benefit of all and sundry in the region

 They added that the violence was being fueled behind the scenes and by proxy by nefarious individuals or groups linked to a drug-smuggling ring still active in the region

 They underlined that these drug-smuggling barons should be rounded up as well as  all the other traffickers in the whole region in order to cleanse the province from the seeds of trouble and wrongdoing

“This could clear the way for the end of mistrust and resentment among the members of the two communities who used to live together in peace and in perfect harmony for generations”, they further underscored.
