Ghoulamallah: “Grand Mufti of Republic is not the Religious Ministry's prerogative”

Minister of Religious Affairs Bouabdellah Ghoulamallah refuted the occurrence of abuses in mosques since the beginning of Ramadan, adding that things are going normally in the light of respect for prayers, thanks to the Mosques Committees’ efforts.

“Sleeping in mosques during siesta, and the expulsion of some worshippers because of it, are individual cases, but not a phenomenon, and collection of Zakat al-Fitr and its distribution requires transparency. The process is handled by committees of the mosque, which is preparing a list of needy and poor people from the vicinity of the mosque. Mufti of the Republic is not the prerogative of the Religious Ministry, because it is not authorized to create these institutions, and there is a system and legislation for that”.

“Quota of Algerian pilgrims is reduced to 28800 pilgrims only this season, because of the reduction of Islamic countries’ quotas due to work of expansion. Pilgrims of draw reached this season about 24,000 or 25,000 thousand pilgrims”.
