Government imported new quantities of wheat to meet national consumption until 2014

Algerian Office of beans took advantage of the decline in the prices in the international market to buy new amounts of soft wheat and barley in order to strengthen the country’s strategic reserves.

General Manager of the Office, Mohamed Belarbi, told APS, that the imported quantities are expected to meet the needs of the country until mid-January 2014, and according to experts of the grain market, the prices of these goods noticed a decline at this time, compared to last year, prompting importing countries to launch tenders, and this decline is mainly due to expectation of higher world grain production to 479.2 billion tons in 2013, an increase of 7% compared to last year, according to the latest report of the Food and Agriculture Organization.
