Grand Prix of Aghadir Berber film festival to Algerian film “Si Muhand U Mhend”
ALGIERS- Algerian feature-length film “Si Muhan U Mhend†snatched the Grand Prix of the 4th Agadir Berber Film Festival (Morocco), commissioner of the Festival Assad Si Hachimi said Monday.
“This result did not come by chance, it is rather due to the dynamism of the film,” Si Hachimi said. The film, written by Rachid Soufi and directed by Rachid Benallal, was finished on 2006. It has been funded by FDATIC (the fund for development of cinema’s arts, techniques, and industry).
“This reward is encouraging for Algerian cinema in a whole and for Berber cinema in particular,” Benallah told APS. With regards to his choice to direct a film in Berber language, Benallal said “the originality and authenticity of a film is more important than the language in which it is produced.”
