Hans Rienks to Echorouk: “The pitch of the 5th of July stadium tallies with international norms”
In the wake of the fiery statements made by some players of the Algeria line-up criticizing the state of the pitch of the 5th of July Olympic stadium of Algiers following the friendly match on August 12th versus Uruguay, the newspaper “Echorouk “met with the General Manager of the Dutch firm “Queens Grass International” in charge of the project, Hans Rienks, who denied such critical remarks stressing that this pitch tallied with international standards after its thorough renovation by his firm.
-
Hans Rienks said that the grass laid by his specialized firm on the pitch of the 5th July Olympic stadium was one of the best in the whole world.
-
However, he indicated that this newly – renovated pitch was not yet ready at 100% adding that some small work on it remained to be done in the next few weeks.
-
This pitch will fully meet the European norms in about 2 months’ time, he argued.
-
“I challenge anyone who would criticize the high-quality of this pitch”, he hammered.
-
He pointed out that the Dutch firm “Queens Grass International” had a solid reputation of know-how in this field across the world.
-
It is behind, he said, the successful renovation of several pitches of renowned stadiums across Europe, including Old Trafford of Manchester, Arena of Amsterdam, Goeteborg of Sweden, Saint – Petersburg of Russia and Feyenoord of Rotterdam.
-
The good reputation of this Dutch firm should not thus be put into question, he asserted.
-
Hans Rienks further affirmed that the life expectancy of the newly – renovated pitch of the 5th of July Olympic stadium of Algiers exceeded 15 years and could sustain, without any major damage, 210 hours of football play per year.
-
He added that the Dutch firm’s engineers were still buckling to the task with the aim of further upgrading the already good quality of the pitch of this stadium in the coming weeks.
