Health ministry to open an inquiry on drug distribution disturbances
The Algerian Health Ministry has launched a countrywide investigation to shed light on the inns and outs of the problem raised by several associations and unions in relation to the shortage registered on the supply of 165 types of drug over the last few weeks including contraceptive piles.

Corroborating sources revealed that the relevant services have started looking at some pharmacies and hospitals in different corners of the country as a first stage. Another inquiry will be automatically launched at the level of the importers’ warehouses and other economic operators specialized in the medical industry in case where the disturbances were noticed.

The services of the health ministry have resorted to investigate on the matter after being widely criticized by several parties in connection with the sector, led by the head of the Algerian Associations for Chronic Diseases M Boualeg who slammed the ministry’s mismanagement over the country causing disruptions in some types of drugs especially those devoted to chronic diseases and contraceptive piles.

For his part , the head of the National Pharmacists Union, Belaanbari has called on the health ministry to reconsider its management policy and beef up control over the importers, compelling them to respect their commitments because the Algerians’ life is at stake.

In a declaration made to the press last week , the health ministry Said Berkat has denied the existence of any drug crisis on the Algerian market.
