Housing Ministry: “Over 66 thousand new housing units to be delivered shortly in various parts of Algeria”
Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia chaired Sunday in Algiers an inter-ministerial meeting essentially devoted to the housing problem in Algeria and ways of dealing with it effectively as early as possible in order to meet the legitimate concerns and aspirations of countless citizens who are yearning to acquire new social and promotional apartments through state subsidy.
- According to the housing ministerial department, a total of 66.500 new social housing units are now ready to be distributed to those bona-fidé recipients, meeting the required criteria and conditions, in several provinces of Algeria.
- The national housing policy “will be pursued with the same intensity, as the construction of two million new housing units is planned as part of the new five-year development programme initiated by President Abdellaziz Bouteflika, and 1.2 million new housing units will be delivered by the end of 2014,” declared Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.
- “800,000 other housing projects are well already underway,” said Ouyahia.
- According to the Prime Minister, the Algerian State will continue its unflagging efforts to eradicate flimsy and shanty dwellings, pointing out that “about 145,000 Algerian families have already been rehoused in decent flats in various parts of the country.”
