“I have no intention of vying for France team coaching job”, says Halilhodzic

The former Lille and PSG coach and current Algeria team coach Vahid Halilhodzic has said that he has no intention of being at the helm of the technical staff of the French national squad as reported by some media outlets.

  • Halilhozic stated that he wanted to pursue his coaching task at the head of the Greens of Algeria in the hope of snatching more victories at the continental and international levels.
  • France’s exit from Euro 2012 and the subsequent bickering between key players came as no surprise to Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic, who believes the French national team has been “sick for two years”.

  • Many observers believed that Les Bleus had recovered from the divisive problems within the camp that had led to the side’s elimination at the group stage of 2010 World Cup, but Laurent Blanc’s men bowed out of this summer’s European football tournament against a backdrop of bitter infighting between senior figures.

  • And it was also revealed that striker Samir Nasri verbally abused journalists after his side’s quarter-final defeat by Spain.

  • “France is a big football country, but has been sick for two years,” Halilhodzic told reporters.

  • “They did not understand the shame of the 2010 World Cup and have not alleviated that deleterious atmosphere.

  • They failed to eliminate all that was rotten within the team” , he added.

  • “The failure was almost predictable,” the former Lille and Paris Saint-Germain boss concluded.

  • Laurent Blanc stepped down after the Euro tournament and the French Football Federation are in search of a new coach after favourite Didier Deschamps turned down the job offer.
