Wahid Halilhozic has officially been appointed on Saturday as the new coach of Algeria, as he signed his 3 years deal in the headquarters of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).

Mr Halilhodzic arrived to Algiers on Saturday morning. He told a press conference that he appreciate the interest being given to the national team, saying he was astonished by receiving 150 calls a day by Algerian journalists as soon as the FAF revealed his name as the new coach of the Greens.

“I like working under pressure”

“I’m already feeling the pressure, yet I’d say that I like this motivating atmosphere, I like working under pressure, it encourages me to work hard and give my all to put the team on the track,” The Desert Foxes manager said.

Mr Halilhodzic specified that his primary mission is to qualify to the African Cup of Nations 213, “and in case I fail, I would resign.”

The new coach of the Greens indicated that for the moment he has to find the cure to heal the inefficient offensive line, as the Desert Foxes have failed to score for 5 games.

“I’ve watched the match against Morocco, and I’ve concluded that the players couldn’t score through an organized attack,” the Algeria manager said, adding: “I’m not sure, either, whether the defense line is the strong point of the team, as it took 12 goals in the four last games!”

Meanwhile, Mr Halilhodzic mentioned that he is the first responsible of the national team, and would accept any dictates or interferences from anybody. He further revealed that he has scheduled a training camp on next August, probably in Paris. “I’ve demanded to cancel the friendly against Tunisia, and replace it by a training camp, probably in Paris,” said Halilhodzic, adding “It will be the occasion to the players better, and watch together the previous games to detect what went wrong in the team.”

The Bosnian coach further added that “I’ll review several aspects, I hate losing, I’m winning addicts, and I’ve lost only two games with Cote d’Ivoire in two years, one was against Algeria.”

To recall, Halilhodzic’s deal includes two main objectives: the qualification to the African Cup of Nations 2013 in Libya, and the qualification to the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
