World regional media shed light on the town of Ouled Kacem in the province of Oum Bouaghi (east of Algeria) following Tuesday’s military aircraft crash which killed 77 people and wounded others.

According to witnesses, the aircraft which was carrying tens of soldiers and members of officers’ families fell on Fertas Mountain.

Journalists find a big difficulty in going to the accident place due to bad weather. Because of that, they rely on cell phone cameras of residents who were there before authorities.

The army tries to create mountainous ways

At around 5 pm on Tuesday, a group of journalists was sent to the crash place. The route in the province of Bordj Bouarreridj (east of Algeria) was blocked because of snow. That caused difficulties to journalists.

At 1 am, there was a sad and cold atmosphere in the town of Ouled Kacem. A colonel in charge of keeping watch on the area allowed the journalists to enter and pass by check points on all the paved way. Traces showed that the army dug the route to create a way in the middle of the mountain to carry the aircraft remaining pieces.

It was dark, cold and foggy. There was no guide to show the journalists the way to the accident place. They had to spend the night there and woke up early in the following morning to go to the crash place.

Security forces find bodies’ remaining parts

Early on Wednesday’s morning, civil protection forces started combing the area and found remaining parts of bodies. They put them in special bags.

“I was there on Tuesday and we collected the bodies in one place to be carried by helicopters,” and officer told Echorouk.

“Some of the bodies were carbonized and we could not indentify them. Others were cut and mutilated,” he added.

The aircraft cut into two pieces and the black box is missing

We had walked in the area for more then 3 hours. It was foggy and snowing. The weather was very cold.

The army forces surrounded the place where there were the remaining pieces of the aircraft. Journalists were not allowed to take photos.

Colonel Lahbiri, General Director of civil protection said the bodies were collected but his forces were still looking for the remaining pieces in the mountain.

Asked about the reasons behind the crash, he said it might be due to bad weather.

“We are waiting for the person who survived the accident to tell us about the real reason,” he added.

He also said investigators did not find the black box.
