Indian President Begins State Visit To Algeria
Today, Sunday, the President of the Republic of India, Droupadi Murmu, begins a four-day state visit to Algeria, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
The statement said: “President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune receives today the President of the Republic of India, Droupadi Murmu, who is paying a four-day state visit to Algeria.”
The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will hold bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart, focusing on the relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them.
This visit is the first at the level of visits at the level of presidents between India and Algeria in 23 years.
The two countries have not exchanged visits at the presidential level since the last visit by former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to New Delhi, in 2001.
While the last visit by a senior Algerian official to India was in January 2019, it was the then Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.
