Interior Minister Dahou Ould Kablia Installs National Election Monitoring Commission
The Minister of the Interior and Local Assemblies, Mr Dahou Ould Kablia, proceeded Wednesday in Algiers to the installation of the national commission entrusted with monitoring the upcoming legislative polls slated for May 10th 2012 in Algeria.
- The selected members of this commission are representatives of approved political parties from a wide-ranging political spectrum, Mr Ould Kablia told reporters outside the installation ceremony.
- The proposed inclusion of a known national personality without any political inclination in the make-up of this commission was ruled out by the Interior Ministry because it did not tally with the electoral laws and regulations, Mr Ould Kablia added.
- He also expressed the wish that a maximum of political parties would vie in all transparency and fairness in the forthcoming polls including the FFS party which is still to decide on whether or not to join the electoral race.
- Asked about his reaction to the decision by the RCD party to boycott the May parliamentary polls, the Interior Minister declined to make any comment on such a move.
