The Public Prosecutor of the Italian Court of Milan opened an investigation against two police officers for the premeditated murder last Sunday of an Algerian national in a waiting room for detainees at the Milan Police headquarters, “La Questura”.

The Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” reported on Wednesday that the Milan Court’s prosecutor wants to know whether the two police officers in charge of guarding and monitoring the arrested Algerian victim caused his death by leaving him alone in a waiting room for long-term detainees.

The newspaper pointed out that the prosecutor of the Milan Court, Paula Perotta, is working on this hypothesis (premeditated murder) in coordination with her deputy, Laura Bedio, and the substance of the hypothesis is that the two policemen in charge of monitoring the arrested Algerian did not perform their duties properly, and this is given the presence of a video tape of surveillance cameras inside the hall that was the scene of the tragic incident.

It shows when the victim came to the police station and the time period during which he was left alone inside the hall.

According to the hypothesis that the Italian prosecutor is investigating in the Milan court, the victim was supposed to remain monitored by the police officers, and leaving him for a long time alone prevented him from being able to save his life by the health emergency service that arrived at the scene too late.
According to the same source, the victim was left alone in the waiting room of the Italian police headquarters in Milan for an hour, waiting for procedures to pinpoint his identity and take pictures of him, a period that was sufficient to take off his shirt and make something like a rope, as he tied it to iron bars for the window In the same hall, he wrapped him around his neck and dangled in a sitting position and died minutes later.

It is expected that the results of the autopsy will be released today, Thursday, at a time when no leaks have been issued regarding his identity, about which contacts were made with the Algerian Consulate General in Milan.

There has been no immediate comment on the case from the Algerian authorities or their Italian counterparts.
Weeks ago, a young Algerian named Akram died at the hands of the Belgian police, and a video was released documenting the fatal incident.

After the incident, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it was keen to uncover all the circumstances of the killing of the Algerian Akram at the hands of the Belgian police, noting that, through its diplomatic and consular representatives in Belgium, it was keen to shed light on this file and uncover all the circumstances surrounding it, through constant and continuous contact with both the family of the deceased and the Belgian administrative, police and judicial authorities, and explained that the file of the deceased Algerian citizen “in circumstances that are being uncovered”, is receiving “great attention and close follow-up by the higher authorities in Algeria”.
