Investigations underway to free the three hostages, says Mourad Medelci
Algiers (November, 1, 2011) – Investigations are ongoing at several levels to free the three foreign hostages, who were kidnapped recently in the Sahrawi refugee camp, FM Mourad Medelci told the APS.
Mourad Medelci added, during the ceremony of celebrating November 1st (National Revolution Day) at the Foreign Ministry, that investigations are still ongoing at many levels by the Algerian authorities in coordination with other neighboring countries, which face the same problem, in order to find a way to reach those people.
“The goal of the investigation is to free these people (two Spanish and an Italian) as soon as possible”, he asserted.
Previously, three aid workers, including two Spanish and an Italian, have been kidnapped by unknown people from Tindouf refugee camp in South-western Algeria.
The two Spanish workers are Ainhoa Fernandez Rincon and Enrico Gonyans, while the Italian woman is Rossella Urru from the Rome-based Comitato Italiano Sviluppo dei Popoli group.
In his response to a question about the Algerian hostages in Somalia, kidnapped on board of Al Blida ship by Somali pirates since January 2011, Medelci asserted that the Algerian FM will free the hostages as soon as possible.
