Iraqi Ambassador: « Ksentini and his associates didn’t care about the fate of Algerian detainees in Iraq »

Iraq’s Ambassador in Algeria, Moussa Abd El Hadi has declared that the chairman of the Algerian consultative commission for the promotion and protection of human rights, Farouk Ksentini has not been mindful of the fate of the Algerians detained in Iraq for years.

  • He said that Ksentini’s bombastic statements to the press saying that he had been always in contact with the relevant Iraqi authorities about the Algerian prisoners detained in Iraq were mendacious and opportunistic.
  • The Iraqi Ambassador stated that Farouk Ksentini or any other Algerian activists had never got in touch with the Iraqi Embassy here in Algiers or with the Iraqi foreign ministry in Baghdad to enquire about the fate of the Algerians detained in Iraq for several years now.

  • They should have at least provided Algerian lawyers to defend them during their trials in Iraq but they failed to do so, the Ambassador told Echorouk’s Forum on Thursday.

  • He also unveiled the list containing the particulars of those Algerians still detained in Iraq of which Echorouk got a copy.

  • The Iraqi Ambassador indicated in this connection that he had duly conveyed such a list to the Foreign Ministry here in Algiers.
