Italy Extradites Algerian Accused of Plotting Terror Attacks

Italy has extradited an Algerian national on Sunday after his prison term ended, where he has been serving a six year sentence over charges of pertaining to a group that plotted terror attacks in Italy.

Italy Minister of Interior signed the expel decision of Algerian Yamine Bouhamra, who was immediately extradited to Algeria, reads a statement of the ministry issued on Sunday.
According to the statement Bouhamra was embarked on a direct flight from the Airport of Rome to the International Airport of Algiers.
Bouhamra was released from Macomar prison in the island of Sardinia, on Sunday after serving a six year sentence for association with international terrorism and fraud offences.
It said prior to his arrest in 2005 he had formed a militant group in Italy connected to al Qaeda.
“This cell was ready to commit acts of terrorism on an even more devastating level than those carried out at the time by the same group in Spain and in Britain,” the ministry said.
The repatriation of Bouhamra was done in coordination with Algerian diplomatic representatives in Italy, the stamen added.
