King Mohamed VI Extols Algeria And Expresses His Desire To See Reopening Of Common Border
The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, took advantage of the euphoria stemming from Algeria’s recent African Cup of Nations triumph to pass through his latest message to Algeria, in which he renewed his desire to consolidate brotherly relations between the two countries.
King Mohammed VI has once again reached out to Algeria to ensure reconciliation, putting an end to the ongoing tension between the two neighboring countries notably with the re-opening of the common border.
In his latest speech, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s “sincere commitment to “keep an outstretched hand towards our brothers in Algeria, faithful in this respect to the bonds of fraternity, religion, language and good neighborliness that have always united our two brotherly peoples”, he said.
“The latest illustration of this proximity dates back to the African Cup of Nations, recently held in the sister country of Egypt, during which the King and the people of Morocco, in a spontaneous and sincere gesture, expressed their sympathy and enthusiastic support for the Algerian football team,” he added.
The Kingdom, king and people, joined the Algerian people “to share their pride, following the coronation deserved during this prestigious African competition, because this victory was felt to be theirs too”.
For King Mohammed VI, “this deep faith in the community of destiny, underpinned by a common history and civilization, encourages us to work, with hope and optimism, towards the fulfillment of aspirations for unity, complementarity and smooth integration, shored up by our brotherly Maghrebian peoples”, he concluded.
