Makhzen Is Poisoning Algerians With A Dangerous Hybrid Hashish

Analytical studies carried out by the Bouchaoui National Institute of Forensic Evidence and Criminology for the National Gendarmerie in Algiers showed that the Moroccan hashish, which drug barons tried to sell in Algeria in the period between 2010 and 2020, and is considered the most dangerous in the world, as it turned from soft drugs to hard drugs with a high addictive force which has very serious toxic effects.

All the data obtained in the analytical study on the seizure of modern Moroccan hashish cannot be described as a soft drug, rather it can be considered a hard drug with high addictive power. It may be characterized by toxic effects of great seriousness, which were not previously recorded during the use of traditional cultivation types, the Director-General of the Bouchaoui National Institute of Forensic Evidence and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie in Algiers, Colonel Sid Ahmed Bouremana said.

Brigadier General Bourmana added in a statement to El Djeich magazine that during 2020 an important part of this study was published in the American Journal of Forensic Science & Criminology (JFSC), which is one of the international journals specialized in forensic science, through two publications on the physical and chemical properties of Moroccan hashish.

“In the same context, this study will be published during the current year 2021 in the journal on drugs of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime”, he added.

The details provided by Lt. Col. Yacine Boumerah, Sub-Director of Toxicology at the National Institute of Forensic Evidence and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie in Bouchaoui, based on data extracted from the scientific analysis carried out at the institute on more than 30,000 hashish samples during the last 10 years “2010-2021, show that the production of hashish in Morocco noticed a quantum leap in recent years, by using new varieties of cannabis seeds with the means and techniques used in the manufacturing stage that allow giving a high yield that is characterized by a greater percentage in the concentration of the active substance compared to the traditional production.

“The focus of the study is on Moroccan hashish, which Algeria and North Africa know as“ Kif-Zatla, Henna and hashish”, the active substances in Kif that have a psychological effect, on top of which is the substance “THC”, which is an abbreviation of the phrase “Tetrahydrocannabinol”, was observed through the analysis of data for more than 30.000 samples, the high concentration of active substances in the seized Moroccan hashish during the period between “2010 and 2021”, Lieutenant Colonel Boumerah explained.

“According to the study, the use of hybrid seeds in Morocco led to the spread of these toxins with high concentrations of the main active substance “THC”, reaching a record rate of 49.5%, in parallel with the noticeable decline in the percentage of the secondary substance or the accompanying substance “CBD”. It is the inhibitory substance of the active substance that hides the effects and symptoms of addiction and helps reduce the effect of cannabis on humans”, he added.

Finally, the institute’s study concluded, according to the sub-director of Toxicology at the National Institute of Forensic Evidence and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie in Bouchaoui, thee Moroccan hashish has dire consequences for both the security and health aspects, as the modern Moroccan “hybrid” drugs have highly addictive psychological effects that can cause serious health problems and poisonings for addicts, in addition to the emergence of serious symptoms and diseases in the future.
